Check if a website is up worldwide
HTTP status and response time from every check server
What the HTTP check shows
Every check server sends a GET request to the address and reports the response it got.
Status code
The HTTP status and reason phrase from each location: 2xx and 3xx mean the site answers, 4xx and 5xx point to an error.
Response time
Total time until the response headers arrive, including the DNS lookup, the connection and the TLS handshake.
Server address
The IP address that answered in every region, useful for sites behind a CDN or geo load balancing.
Frequently asked questions
Short answers about how the check works and how to read its results.
Are redirects followed?
No. The check sends a single GET request and shows the answer as it is, so a redirect is reported with its 3xx status. Check the target address to test the page behind it.
Which addresses can I check?
Any http:// or https:// URL with an optional port and path, like https://example.com/page. Without a scheme, https:// is used.
What happens with an invalid certificate?
The request still goes through, so a self-signed or expired certificate does not hide whether the server responds.
When does a check time out?
When the server does not send its response headers within 10 seconds from that location.
How do the requests look in my server logs?
They come with the user agent Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; check-host.org).
