check-host.org does not use cookies. This page explains the only thing we store in your browser.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files that websites save in your browser. Similar technologies, such as local storage, keep data on your device in the same way.
What we store
We do not use cookies for analytics, advertising or tracking. Local storage holds two values:
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
check-host:language |
Remembers the language you chose | Until you clear it |
check-host:theme |
Remembers the light or dark theme you chose | Until you clear it |
These values stay in your browser and are never sent to our servers.
Third parties
Maps are loaded from OpenFreeMap. We do not add third-party scripts, pixels or trackers to the site.
The site is protected by TurtleGuard. When it needs to check that a visitor is not a bot, it may set a short-lived technical cookie. It is used only for this check and not for tracking.
Managing storage
You can clear local storage at any time in your browser settings. The site keeps working without it: the language returns to English and the theme follows your system settings.
Changes
If we ever start using cookies, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
